Cooley Mountains: In the afternoon, journey to the Cooley Mountains, the birthplace of the Poc Fada competition, a traditional Irish sport that challenges participants to strike a sliotar (hurley ball) as far as possible using a hurley stick. Experience the beauty of the landscape and learn how this unique event has been played since 1960, speak to the local organiser while maintaining it’s deep connection to Irish culture and mythology.

Day 4: Travel to Cushendall & Antrim Coast

Depart for Cushendall, a picturesque village located on the Antrim coast. Explore the stunning scenery of the area, famous for its rugged coastline and historic significance.

(Provisional) Ulster GAA Headquarters: Begin the day with a visit to the Ulster GAA headquarters, where you’ll have an opportunity to meet with organizers and key figures within the association. Gain insight into the governance and organization of GAA activities in the province of Ulster.

Canavan’s Bar: Later, head to Canavan’s Bar, located in the heart of O’Neill County. This newly opened establishment is a tribute to GAA legend Peter Canavan, and you’ll have the chance to meet him in person. Enjoy the lively atmosphere as Peter shares stories of his illustrious career and the cultural importance of GAA in the local community.
