This immersive Educational tour offers a powerful exploration of Irish identity through the lenses of culture, heritage, language, and reconciliation. Beginning in Dublin and traveling through Armagh, Belfast, and Derry/Londonderry, participants will engage with Ireland’s complex history and dynamic present through experiential learning and community engagement.

From Gaelic games and traditional music to interfaith dialogue and political storytelling, each day uncovers a new layer of Irish society. Participants will gain insight into the lasting impact of colonization, migration, religious division, and the Troubles—while also experiencing how creativity, culture, and community continue to shape modern Ireland.

Day 3 – Introduction to Irish History

Activities: Walking Tour – Explore Dublin’s key sites like St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar, O’Connell Street and the General Post Office (GPO).
Lunch
Attraction: Explore EPIC, The Irish Emigration Museum, for an interactive look at the stories of Irish emigrants through digital exhibits and motion-sensor displays. Step aboard the Jeanie Johnston, a replica of a famine-era ship.
Dinner: Boco Pizza

Day 4 – Dublin Irish Identity

Activities: Gael Linn was founded in 1953 and has been known since then as a entrepreneurial organisation. The main aim of the organisation is to foster and promote the Irish language and its heritage throughout Ireland as a living language and as an expression of identity.
- Participate in a Gaelic language workshop: learn about the importance of linguistic preservation in fostering a sense of identity.
Lunch: Traditional Carvery Lunch in Tolka House
Activity Session: Hosted in Na Fianna Gaa – Gaelic Games Learn to play and to participate in traditional Gaelic Games learn how the games define society and Irish cultural identity.
Dinner

Day 5 – Religious Influence on Society

Drive – to Armagh, Stop at Monasterboice Celtic Cross
Activity: St. Patrick and his Legacy. Visit both St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral and Church of Ireland Cathedral, followed by a Q&A session with a local leader and students
Lunch: at Anoach Mhacha
Workshop: Armagh Rhymers. Through music, storytelling and drama, they provide an experience that is both entertaining and educational. Craft workshop and Musical performance and leadership discussion.
Travel – to Belfast
Dinner: Fish City

Day 6 – The Troubles and Reconciliation

Activity: West Belfast Walking Tour Walking tour of peace divides to include visits to the following historical centre stops, such as Murals, Cemetery and The Falls Museum
- St Congals – Discussion with Republican Speakers – Coiste Speakers – Educational Activities – Coiste I Irish Political Tours I Belfast
Lunch: Local Coffee Shop
Activity: Walking tour of Shankill Road and engage with Loyalist Speaker at ACT INITIATIVE (act-ni.co.uk), exhibition and discussion
- Note – Please note this area is a conflict resolution space and it is suggested that the day is managed in this way. This will ensure there is a balance in interpretation and to have controlled discussion.

Day 7 – Exploring Divides and Identities

Day trip – Travel to Derry/Londonderry by bus (~1.5-2 hours from Belfast)
Optional Activity: Glenshane Farm – Local Shepherd Experience
Visit: Explore the Derry, Guildhall, Derry Walls, The Fountain and city Murals
Lunch
Discussion Engage in a discussion about Peace Process at the peace makers museum, the main player and its lasting impact on identity and politics.
Shopping – Souvenirs at the Craft Village

Day 8 – Culture, Creativity & Voice

Participate in a Traditonal Music Workshop near Queen’s University
Lunch
Have some time to explore the Queen’s University area, including the Ulster Museum. Take part in a youth-focused debate at Uras-The Connolly Centre, exploring themes relevant to youth in both local and global contexts
Dinner

Day 9 – Depart from Ireland

Begin your journey home
